Simon Pure is nothing more than a coward, at least that is how he views himself. His life has been one never-ending journey after another spanning centuries at this point. After his latest adventure that saved America during the Civil War, Simon cannot help but wonder what the 2oth century has in store?

Creative Team: Geoff Johns (WRITER), Bryan Hitch (PENCILS and COVER), Andrew Currie (INKS), Brad Anderson (COLORS and COVER), and Rob Leigh (LETTERS)

The Story:
Simon Pure is now Simon Plum, and he…has a family?! Of all the twists and turns Geoff has ever given us, this may rank up there as far as surprises go for me. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop on this entire issue, both feeling a sense of comfort and a sense of mistrust. We even get reunited with Albert Einstein again, which was a panel that sent pure elation and goosebumps down my spine. However, nothing will ever be as easy for Simon as there is a figure from his past who returns once more, and Simon may have to choose between his family and himself before long.
The Art and Letters:
While we may not be off on grand adventures in this issue, that does not mean Bryan, Andrew, and Brad do not have an issue full of detail and joy. The trio captures the 1900s city feeling and the tailor work of the times as Simon is patching up suits as a tailor, and his general demeanor has happiness all over it. I found myself gawking at the various businesses the art team planned in the background, searching for cues and every bit of detail they poured into this issue. Rob captures the feeling of joy best in the splash page of Simon greeting Albert, which was a beautiful surprise in this issue.
Final Thoughts:
Redcoat #15 slows down the story and allows a moment of bliss for our beloved anti-hero, Simon. It’s an issue full of joy and hope and overdue reunions with a very important cliff-hanger on the final page. This is the comic I needed this week.
Overall Grade: 10/10
