The gang’s back together. DIE: Loaded is back, and Writer Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, and Letterer Clayton Cowles have created a beautiful first issue.
Stephanie’s art from the first series to now is the same. Fans of this series will love everything about it, and new readers will enjoy it as well. Something else I love, the design of all of the locations, they all look incredible. Add in the beautiful coloring work, and Clayton’s lettering, and the book is amazing.
Meanwhile, Kieron’s writing is phenomenal. It’s been over 4 years since the last issue of the original series released, and yet it feels like no time has passed. These characters feel exactly the same but also different, and it’s really nice. Fans new and old will love everything about the writing.
The story picks up a year after the events of the original series. Everyone is heading to Chuck’s wake, and are finished with the game. But in this world, the game is never really finished with you. We see the players get dragged back into the game, and all of the craziness that ensues with it.
Overall Grade: 10/10
This is the perfect way to return to a world like DIE. Kieron and the team have created a beautiful 1st issue, and I’m very excited to see where the book goes from here.
