While Monica is searching the house, Sam patiently waits outside waiting on what is going to go down. Meanwhile, Lewis’s mom Pauline is struggling very hard with everything going on. She’s now turned to prescription drugs just to cope with the pain. Monica finds what she is looking for, but at the cost of the family thinking she is planting something. In her efforts to escape she knocks down the husband and appears to have killed him. But she is in denial and of course has Sam to support her.
A Turn to Evil
This issue really shows the desperation in some of our main characters. Both Monica and Pauline are desperate to quench their pain from the loss of their loved ones, well Sam sits back looking fondly at her handiwork. Patrick Horvath does a magnificent job of showing the pain and desperation which really makes the reader uneasy. The lengths that good people will go to for answers and to feel better can truly be uncomfortable, which really enhances the story.
The art in this issue is great and continues to be what we’ve become accustomed to in this series. Patrick Horvath does a great job showing the desperation of the story as well as some great graphic shots. The pain, hurt, desperation, and suspense for what’s next show through in the art. Every panel makes the reader feel the emotion and really draws you in.

Final Thoughts
Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring #4 takes the story to the next level and never lets the reader down. As this series goes on the stakes get higher and the levels that good people will stoop to get lower. The true horror in this series is the manipulation and desperation of the characters that for all intents and purposes are good people. This series needs to be on your Pull List and if it’s not get to your LCS and add it this week.
