Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story #4. Credit Image Comics and Ghost Machine. Cover by Leila Leiz and Alex Sinclair.

Creative Team: Maytal Zchut (WRITER), Leila Leiz (ART and COVER), Alex Sinclair (COLORS and COVER), and Rob Leigh (LETTERS).

The Story:

Maytal is taking us on an absolute roller coaster of a ride in this penultimate issue. We can truly feel the anger and sadness that Violet feels, and at times Maytal has us again feeling sympathy, and then turns the story around on a dime as we fear for Sophie, who was an innocent bystander to the entire thing.

The way the duo is written in such stark contrast pulls the emotions out and causes conflicting feelings about how we, the reader should be feeling at any given time. It’s truly incredible writing and storytelling as Hyde Street is pulled into the fold leaving us fearing for Sophie who doesn’t deserve what is waiting for her on Hyde Street.

The Art and Letters:

Leila and Alex have put forth their absolute best with this issue, as artistically, there has never been a more incredibly detailed and beautiful issue. The way they do the split personalities come to life with Sophie bursting out from the side of her own head is haunting.

There are many splash pages that do some clever things, and how they make the mirror or other objects that send ripple effects and bend realities. The color choices of blues mixed with the orange flames stand out tremendously. Rob adds in effects and crafts an oozing lasher vibe within this issue.

Overall Grade: 10/10

As we set up for the finale, there are no happy endings with Hyde Street, and Sisterhood is yet another example. The team delivers a tragic and horrifying tale, setting us up for an epic finale.
