The Story
The battle between Earth’s heroes and World Emperor Doom has been heating up like crazy and now we get to see just how hot it’s going to get. The world is watching the epic showdown live on their televisions, and that includes the children of Reed and Sue, Valeria and Franklin Richards.
Valeria knows that she’s the only one that Doctor Doom will listen to so she cooks up a plan to get his attention in an attempt to convince him to stop the violent fight. She successfully reaches him, and they both sit for a talk while his body is in the Astral Plane fighting the heroes, which includes Valeria’s parents. Although Valeria swears she can talk the Sorcerer Supreme down, she’s unsuccessful and sent back to Arizona.
Doom, who’s more than positive that he can win this battle, has more than a few tricks up his sleeves against the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. However, that doesn’t mean the heroes don’t have a trick or two up their sleeves as well. Together, the world’s heroes fight with all their might and Doctor Doom proves just how powerful he really is while the entire world is watching. A battle of the greatest powers in all of the world, all of Doom’s world.
The Art
When it comes to powerful art to reflect the powerful story, R.B. Silva is the person for the job. Inside One World Under Doom #8, you’ll see panels and pages that’ll leave your jaw dropped down to the floor. With the use of extreme detail and imaginative abstract backgrounds along with the mystical power sets on full display, you’ll see that is nothing short of a work of art.
Along with Silva, you have David Curiel who handles the colors and Travis Lanham who handles the lettering. Curiel, who has been nothing short of expertly consistent throughout One World Under Doom pulls out all of the stops with the colors in the eight issue that proves this comic is as powerful as Doctor Doom himself. Lanham handles the letters and gives each word as much power as the heroes who are fighting the Sorcerer Supreme. Together, the artists make this comic one of the most beautiful pieces of art I’ve seen.
Overall Grade – 10/10
Ryan North and the team has knocked it out of the park once again. If you haven’t dived into One World Under Doom, it’s never too late! The eight issue is proof that this is one of the most powerful events we’ve seen in a long time, and the fierce ending is right around the corner.
