The Story and Writing
After the superheroes of the world found out what evil Doctor Doom was really up to, that set off a chain reaction right into chaos with the entire world. Half of the world is on the side of the World Emperor.
The other half sees Doom for what he is, a villain. However, none of that phases Doom and his plans, so he continues to to reign as Sorcerer Supreme and World Emperor.
It does, however, inspire the heroes of the world, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and all the heroes in between, to team up against Doom. Taking the fight to Latveria, they all attack with all they have.
The world is watching all of this unfold on television, so all eyes are on this battle. Even though they’re giving Doom every trick in the book, he still proves stronger and more powerful than the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Ryan North continues the powerful and exciting story of Doom being the ruler of the planet. Doom proves time and time again that he is the most powerful, but that isn’t accepted by the heroes of the world, nor should it be. The world got a good look at what evil Doctor Doom is capable of, and half of the population still sides with Doom. I’m very interested to see where this goes, as it seems there’s no win in sight for the heroes.
The Art
The artists of One World Under Doom continue to impress with their artistic talents in the seventh issue. R.B. Silva knows how to create panels that are drenched in power, making it hard to look away, especially when it comes to Doom. Along with Silva, David Curiel continues his talents with the colors, and knocks it out of the park, which is unsurprising. Travis Lanham handles the letters, and makes each word uttered by Doom feel dominant. Together, the artists bring something so unique to the comic that we just haven’t seen in Doctor Doom comics before.
Overall Grade – 9.4/10
