ARTIFICIAL #2 – The Full Date-X Experience

Previously, we saw Clara tired of complications. So, she decided to try a free trial with Date-X. The dating subscription that, for a fair amount of money, will customize the love of your dreams. Clara was swept off her feet during the trial date.

She decided to commit to this unlikely adventure and subscribe to Date-X for the full experience. From the personality traits to the preferred sex positions. While Clara didn’t need any help to date regular people. She decided to opt out of the complications that come with interacting with real people. Clara just wanted to experience the rush of falling for the type of men she read about in her romance novels.

A WEEK TO REMEMBER

After dealing with a client, Clara signed off work for an entire week. During this leave of absence she did work from home a bit. However, whenever she wasn’t working, she was spending time with her Date-X Android. By spending time, I mean they were having lots of romantic dates and sexual intercourse. Mostly sex if I’m being honest. There were no arguments, no problems, no turn offs. The android was there to satisfy Clara to her fill. 

RETURN TO EARTH

When the week was almost over Clara had an idea. She decided she wanted to activate the role play feature in the android. So she did, and to no one’s surprise it was everything she ever dreamed of. The role play she selected was a love triangle of sorts. Unfortunately she was unable to turn off that feature. Then, to make matters worse Mateo her ex showed up when the android was leaving. Same android that was in love-triangle role play mode.

HOW ABOUT THE ART?

As per usual Maria Llovet is employing the use of motifs for her storytelling. Just going off these two issues, it is apparent that the rose or rose petals are symbolizing Clara’s bliss. Whenever she connects on a physical level with the android, the rose or petals are present. This is a prevalent element in Maria llovet’s stories. And it will only become more apparent as the story evolves. 

OVERALL GRADE: 10/10

When you see Maria Llovet’s name in a book, you know what to expect. Plenty of interpersonal drama, complicated relationships and incredible erotic moments between unlikely people. It did not take long for the story to build up to its main conflict. The anticipated malfunction of the android date. Finally, everything must go downhill from here. I for one can’t wait to see this trainwreck of a love triangle between 2 humans and an android.
