Time travel is good at times. But in this case, this could cause ripple effects. Writer Stephanie Williams, Artist Asian Fulmore, Colorist DJ Chavis, and Letterer Becca Carey have created a beautiful first issue of Mad Cave Studios’ newest book, Temporal.

We kick off in 1986 in Chicago at The Metropolitan Museum Of Science And History. The guard is walking around saying that the museum is closed.
We then see 2 hay-like bushes get thrown to the ground. We meet our main characters, Savannah and Marcus. They then decided to make the night memorable.Â
They go to a few different exhibits, and they are talking as they are looking. They then find the item they are there to get, which is a diamond ring.
Once they get it, they both head back to the car, when a guy shows up. He is switching shifts with the security guard, when he sees Savannah and Marcus’ car drive off.Â
We then cut to the year 2072. Savannah is at her job, and one of her co-workers comes into her office. After they talk about selling one of the art pieces, the comic cuts to the next day. It’s Marcus and Savannah’s son’s birthday. While Marcus, Harper, and everyone else is outside, Savannah and her mom are inside.
Savannah is talking to her while she makes Harper a Strawberry Cheesecake. After that, she heads outside to give her dad a tray for the food on the grill, and her and Marcus have a quick conversation. After that, Harper opens his presents. First, Harper blows out his birthday cake candles, and then he opens his gifts.
We then cut to later in the night, and Savannah is looking for the game console that Harper wanted for his birthday. Her and Marcus talk about it, and Savannah promises not to go and do a heist to get the console for Harper. A few days later, her and her best friend Jamie are having food, and Savannah tells Jamie her plan. We then see them head to where Savannah and Marcus would go to their heists. The final panel shows Savannah going through the portal.
Overall Grade: 10/10Â
Stephanie and her team have knocked this series out of the park with just 1 issue. I haven’t read a time travel series this exciting in years, and I know the remaining 4 issues are going to be incredible.
