Edward and Angie have accepted the Masterminds game, launching them towards a world of unimaginable royalties. What they thought would be a fun and harmless game has quickly turned dangerous as they aren;t alone in their quest to join the mysterious group.

The Story:

This issue truly has it all as Zack is blending genres, taking us into a world of infinite possibilities and even more questions. In this issue, we have a fun murder mystery as it turns out the bodies were fake, but the consequences were real. Even after that, Zack takes us into what almost feels like a plot from James Bond. Edward and Angie must go undercover and steal something of high value.

This entire issue is captivating and just when the audience will think they can catch their breath, another twist happens showcasing just how intense this story will be.

The Art and Letters:

Thiago and Stephen match energies with Zack as they offer up clues within their artwork and lay easter eggs about in this issue. Subtle details such as the banner discussing a shift before we are even told, add depth and life into the story. The sexual and romantic tension between Angie and Edward is captured through the expressions, whether they are speeding on the motorcycle or changing into their attire. There are times when the action truly feels lifelike through their artistic abilities.

Final Thoughts:

Masterminds is full of twists, turns, action, and real-life consequences. Zack truly makes us feel as though we are immersed in this mysterious game, and the art team is delivering panels of suspense in all the right ways. Dark Horse Comics has something special cooking with Masterminds. Make sure you enter this game!
