Archie VS. Minor Threats #2 – No One Escapes Their Childhood

Published:

It’s all fun and games until you accidentally become a supervillain. Archie and the gang recently bit off more than they can chew in Archie VS. Minor Threats #1. Figuratively, this time. Sabrina, a local teenage witch from another high school, snuck along on their field trip to Twilight City. She needed a little something for a spell. Her hijinks cost way more than anticipated. Last we left Archie and friends, they had inadvertently found a crew and met Frankie Follis, AKA Playtime. The soon-to-be Godmother of Redport (this comic run takes place before Minor Threats: The Fastest Way Down).

The Story for Archie VS. Minor Threats #2

It’s chaos! Archie is the furthest thing from a villain, and now he wonders if he’ll ever get to try the mint chocolate chip milkshake. Fortunately, he ends up in a very surprising team-up. Meanwhile, Archie is not the only one with issues. Another character ends up getting the support group help they need. While Josie and the Pussycats just recruited an amazing new musician who was having a rather crappy day. As the different side stories suddenly come crashing together, it seems this crossover is about to get even more interesting.

The Art

This issue is incredibly packed with storytelling and different characters. The art moved it all along perfectly. Not a single centimeter of space is wasted, and it’s all beautiful.

Frankie’s superpower is making toy-style weapons. Whether she likes it or not. So even the violence of this story goes incredibly well next to possibly the world’s most innocent teenagers.

Not only do we get to enjoy toys come to life and murdering people, there’s also the element of magic! Frankie seems to spend her life running from her childhood or barreling straight into it. Magic seems to have not been a great part of said childhood, and she wants to put a stop to it. The element of magic just adds even more amazing artwork to this already eye candy of a comic run.

Overall Grade: 10/10

I’ve got to give issue 2 of ARCHIE VS. MINOR THREATS 10 of 10 dinosaur chicken nuggets. The amount of storytelling that happened in this one comic is truly impressive. At no point was it overwhelming. It was just non-stop fun. Whether characters were fighting, eating burgers, or playing some sweet tunes everything perfectly came together in the most action packed hilarious of ways. All while setting up an epic ending that got me wishing I had issue 3 right now.

All of these characters, whether from the world of Archie or the world of Minor Threats, continually stay completely true to their characters. Yet, as different as these two worlds are, this insane crossover doesn’t feel out of place at all. In fact, it feels weirdly natural. I never would have asked for an Archie/Minor Threats crossover, but I’m damn glad it’s happening.
