The Story

After a harrowing journey, we’re at the final fight with Illyana, Dani, Liminal, and Embodiment. Illyana and Dani. Embodiment’s army has be released onto Dani and Illyana, but they’re no slouches when it comes to fighting. However, in the Society of the Eternal Dawn, it seems that the army is neverending, but still, the heroes fight on with help from Liminal.

Liminal is prepared to kill all of their enemies, but Dani refuses to allow him to as she doesn’t want those murders on Cal’s hands.

While Embodiment has the power of seeing three seconds into the future, so every attack Illyana throws her way is near useless. So, Illyana has to figure a way to work around Embodiment’s future predicting powers if she wants a chance to survive the fight.

With so much on the line with this fight, their freedom and Cal’s body released of Liminal’s presence, Illyana will do whatever it takes to destroy Embodiment and her evil army.

Ashley Allen gave an ending to her exciting comic run that was full of satisfaction. Seeing Illyana finally achieve what she’s fought for for so long was nothing short of fulfillment. Throughout this run, we’ve seen so many sides of Illyana that did nothing but enhance her as a comic character.

Ashley Allen truly understood Illyana Rasputin and showed that through Magik. I would really love if she came back to write more of Magik, but for now, I’m excited to see whatever she does next.

The Art

Something else that has been very consistent in quality throughout the series is the artwork. In Magik #10, Germán Peralta is the artist who brought so much heat to the story with his art. There were so many beautiful panels that really captured the mystical feeling of reading an Illyana Rasputin story, but where he really excelled was when the characters were in The Library of the Fates. These pages had a perfect otherworldly energy to them, it was easy to get lost in the artwork.

Alongside Peralta is Arthur Hesli, who handled the colors. Along with the dramatic contrasting colors of the magical powersets at play, Hesli was able to captured the menacing energy from Iliminal that shows what a true threat he is.

The artists truly came together and brought the incredible story line to life, giving us a beautiful comic run that I had the absolute pleasure of reading.

Final Thoughts

While I am very disappointed that this series is concluded, I really hope the creative team comes back for more Magik stories. To say this was a home run would be an understatement.

Overall Grade – 9/10
