Meanwhile, the Wanderer is battling Kaiju in the Deadzone, when he comes across two children. In the process of saving them, they are all captured by what we find out is the Church of Godzilla. Now the Wanderer is chained up and at the mercy of the cult’s leader, Mother A.
You Can Join, But You Can’t Leave
Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #2 jumps right into the story and shows us more in the world of the Wanderer. Ethan Parker & Griffen Sheridan do a wonderful job of setting this story up as something completely different from what we’ve seen in the Godzilla franchise. Tying in a “doomsday” like cult that worships Godzilla opens endless possibilities where the story can go. Couple that with some good action in the form of a Kaiju v. Mutant battle and you have an entertaining read.
The art in this book is wonderful and really brings the Deadzone to life. Pablo Tunica does an excellent job of showing the reader exactly what the Deadzone is and the desolation its inhabitants live in. Speaking of inhabitants, the character designs in this book are super cool and give this world a unique feeling. The cult looks and feels show the reader that there is more to this group than meets the eye. The art style and colors also make the art in the book stand out.
