It’s hard to believe that in just over 3 months from today (September 3rd), it will be the TENTH anniversary of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

If you remember during that movie there’s a plot point that was mentioned by Han that at some point along the way between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens he LOST the Millennium Falcon! This series will see Han & Chewie set out on a journey to find the famous ship, but first they have to find it! So let’s jump into it!

Star Wars: Han Solo – Hunt For The Falcon #1 by Rodney Barnes (Writer), Ramon Rosanas (Artist), Guru-eFX (Color Artist) & VC’s Joe Caramagna (Letterer) is a great start to the series that feels like it fits in perfectly with the novels written by Brian Daley in the late 1970’s.

The Story

Rodney Barnes does a fantastic job getting this series started, and it really left me wanting more by the end of it. It’s been a tale I’ve been slightly curious about since I sat in the theater way back in 2015 and wondered just how exactly it was Han lost the Falcon.

It starts out simply enough, but quickly transitions to a very familiar place for our favorite smuggler. I really liked seeing Han slip back into that world he’s been so familiar with for so many years. It’s Han in his element, it’s where he’s most comfortable.

Han’s journey to find the Falcon is the great part of this issue because it’s a story we haven’t really heard or read before. Sure we know what will happen eventually, but it’s that time in-between that is so intriguing.

The Artwork

Ramon Rosanas & Guru-eFX do a fantastic job with the art in this issue. Han Solo, Lando & Chewbacca are captured incredibly in such crisp detail. Speaking of crisp, every panel is so crisp and detailed that it really sets itself apart from other issues you might read this week. It really does a wonderful job & compliments the story incredibly.

FINAL POINT: Rodney Barnes pens a Han Solo story that I would put side by side with the Brian Daley stories from the 1970’s, it’s that good! Together with tremendous artwork from Ramon Rosanas & Guru-eFX make this an issue you don’t want to miss if you’re a Star Wars fan!

Overall Grade: 9.0/10
