The Story and Writing

Megan – In the newest issue of Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #12, we start off with Marc in a session with his therapist. Something’s weighing heavy on his mind, and it’s all about The Wrecker. The Wrecker has come to the Midnight Mission for help, but Marc doesn’t want to help him.

The Wrecker is being haunted by his dreams, severely haunted to the point that he isn’t able to sleep at night. While Marc isn’t on board with helping him, The Wrecker did come to the Midnight Mission for help, and that’s what they do; help.

Marc meets The Wrecker at a graveyard, a place that he says will be a good place to fight whatever’s haunting him. Once the ghosts show up, Marc realizes that these aren’t just any ghosts, these are the angry dead. And the angry dead are not about to go down without a fight.

Jed MacKay continues to give an exciting storyline for Moon Knight, which is unsurprising. I love how strong this arc started off with the mystery of the haunting, the darkness of the ghosts, and the cameo from Layla. I’m really looking forward to seeing where MacKay goes with this, especially when we find out why the angry dead is after The Wrecker.

Janelle – This issue Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #12, has Marc meeting with “Wrecker” and he needs his help. Wrecker explains that Marc “owes” him, and Marc decides to help. Marc is also simultaneously is in a therapy session with his therapist, explaining his dilemma. Wrecker explains that he has been seeing ghosts, and it’s scaring him.

He wants Moon Knight to help him find the source of these ghosts. Layla ends up dropping by them defeating ghosts. Layla thinks that he is stupid for helping the Wrecker. I find this hilarious, because there are panels of them going back and forth. Overall, the story leaves on a cliffhanger, and I’m hoping that they can defeat these ghosts.

The Art

Megan – Domenico Carbone is the artist of Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #12 and to say he understood the assignment would be an understatement. The fighting panels are as strong as the story is, along with a great look at Moon Knight in the middle of the action. Along with Carbone, Rachelle Rosenberg continues her work with the colors in this run. What I love about how Rosenberg showcases her talents is she works extremely well with contrasting colors, with the dark looks of the surroundings playing off of Moon Knight’s stark white suit.

Janelle – The art for this issue is beautiful. Domenico does a wonderful job, using vibrant and interesting colors. Each time that I’m looking at the art, I’m noticing the details. When it comes to Moon Knight’s suit, it looks great and illuminating. I even see the lovely curl pattern of Layla’s hair, and I always note the artist’s detail to hairstyles.

Overall Grade – 9.2/10

Megan – 9.1/10 This was a strong start after coming off of the chaos between Moon Knight and Fairchild. I can’t wait to see what Jed MacKay does next with Moon Knight!

Janelle – 9.3/10 I am excited to see what happens next. I want to hope that Marc still helps out people when they need it. I’m also hoping that Layla can have a helping hand as well, defeating those ghosts!
