The Story
After all the chaos that came from Fairchild, Moon Knight and his team have plans that don’t involve violence, Glitter addictions, or Asgardian gangsters. Their plan, well everyone but Marc’s plan, is to celebrate Marc’s birthday for the first time.
The team is back on the streets, protecting its people, and now is the time to make that loud and clear. What better way to do that than a party? With all of Moon Knight’s team on board with the party, the only person who is against it is Marc himself. However, there’s one person who shows up that he’s happy to see.
Jed MacKay, the writer of Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #11, brings what I thought was a lighthearted story that turned into an emotional reflection of Moon Knight’s loss. It was interesting to see Marc reflect on his past, all of the things he’s done, and those he’s lost along the way.
Along with that, we get to see all of the team that worked with Marc to help bring down Fairchild finally get to let loose and enjoy themselves with the people closest to them. All in all, I thought it was a great read that showed a more vulnerable side of the man, the myth, the legend, Moon Knight.
The Art
Domenico Carbone joins the creative team as the artist for Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #11 and absolutely nails it. There’s so many powerful panels throughout the comic but I have to say my favorite ones involve Moon Knight wielding Ginnarr the Hoarding Blade. In true Moon Knight fashion, Carbone’s excellent drawings matching with his great amount of detail, it’s met with big contrasting colors thanks to Rachelle Rosenberg. Together, Carbone and Rosenberg bring to life the dark and beautiful world of Moon Knight and the Midnight Mission.
Also, I can’t not comment on how incredible of a job Davide Paratore has done handing the cover art. The quality of the covers in Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu has been very consistent, and perfectly captured the essence of Moon Knight as a character.
Final Thoughts
I was curious to see what Jed MacKay would do with Moon Knight after all the chaos of Fairchild, and I love what he did!
