Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker #3 by Ethan Sacks (Writer), Marc Yarza (Pencil), Jose Marzan Jr (Ink), Nicola Righi (Color), Tyler Smith & Jimmy Betancourt (Letterer) is a great issue that has something for every Star Wars fan in it!

The Story

Ethan Sacks pens another fantastic story in this issue, and it’s incredibly enjoyable to read from start to finish! Poe & BB-8 are still on the run with the codebreaker on Nar Kaaga City while trying to make it back to the Resistance!

I got such a nostalgic feel reading this issue, because there were certain portions of it that reminded me a bit of Luke, Ben Kenobi, C-3PO & R2-D2’s time in Mos Eisley Spaceport in A New Hope trying to find a way off planet.

After a little bit of a scuffle with a familiar face from The Force Awakens, our heroes end up in a museum on the home planet of the Bothans, Bothawui! And there’s another easter egg before they get there for longtime Star Wars fans, especially if you rode on the original Star Tours ride at Disney! I really loved seeing the RX series droid again, and it’s always a fun callback to that ride.

The museum is sure to please prequel fans, because they’ve made their way to a museum about the Battle Over Bothawui! It was a battle that took place during the Clone Wars between the Republic & the Speratists, and it’s chock full of familiar ships, vehicles & droids that you’re sure to recognize.

I love the cliffhanger ending because it felt like maybe things were working in Poe’s favor, and that maybe he was going to turn it around. But as is often the case with the good guys in Star Wars, it doesn’t work out that way! I can’t wait to see where this goes!

The Artwork

Marc Yarza, Jose Marzan Jr & Nicola Righi all do a fantastic job with the artwork in this issue, and it really complements the story so well. Each environment that we see in this issue looks different & stands out from one another. They also did a fantastic job with the museum and all of the Clone Wars relics. I’ve watched The Clone Wars so many times, and seeing the ships & vehicles reminded me of so many great episodes of that show.

FINAL POINT: A story with something for every Star Wars fan, together with spectacular artwork come together to make this an issue that every Star Wars fan should read this week!

Overall Grade: 9.0/10
