The Story and Writing

After the exciting tenth issue of The Power Fantasy, the story continues with a diabolical plan from Dev and Eliza. Dev, who had been pretending to be Jacky Magus, creates a plan with Eliza to kill Etienne. Is it risky? Absolutely. Will it be worth it? That remains to be seen.

While these secret plans are forming behind the scenes, the Family is meeting in Melbourne to celebrate Kid Ignition’s 18th birthday. That sounds sweet, but they’re also meeting to discuss the pros and cons of Heavy’s son, Kid Ignition, being a Superpower.

Tensions are already high, and none of them are aware of the plan that Dev and Eliza plan on playing out once the party starts.

This was an explosive issue that ends with a very interesting cliffhanger that I can’t wait to see come to fruition.

With that, we also got to see all of the Family come together for the first time, which was wildly interesting to see them all play off each other. Kieron Gillen does it again with knowing how to keep a reader hooked until the last page in The Power Fantasy.

The Art

Caspar Wijngaard continues to impress with the artwork of The Power Fantasy. Each character comes with their own vibe as far as the art goes, so it was interesting to see them all together. Wijngaard covers so many different emotions throughout the comic.

What I think sticks out the most is the tension that builds up throughout the read, whether the characters know it or not. Eliza and Dev bring their own energy to the party and its very noticeable, thanks to Wijngaard.

Final Thoughts

The creative team delivers again when it comes to quality in The Power Fantasy #11. With a comic that’s spent building up to the end of the plan, reading it had me on the edge of my seat.
