“Find out what happened when the Pyramid went to hell (complimentary) and how it makes the present day go to hell (derogatory). Come celebrate THE POWER FANTASY’s triumphant, celebratory tenth issue (issue 10 is issue 100 in old money).” (Credit: Image)

The Story and Writing

Last we left off, Eliza had been receiving messages from who she thinks is God, but in actuality, it was Etienne the whole time. Along with that, Eliza just found out that the Magus she knows isn’t Jacky Magus at all, but her believed to be dead ex husband.

Out of excitement and hurry, the two ex spouses get reacquainted in the way you’d expect them to. In The Power Fantasy #10, we get a good look at how Magus got Eliza’s ex husband to take his place on Earth. With that, we also got a better look at Magus’ story and his powers that makes him an Atomic.

There’s so much going on in the world of The Power Fantasy that Etienne has called a meeting with all of the superpowers, none of which are thrilled. Etienne is not pleased that Heavy has a child and once they find out if it’s true that his son is a Superpower, then a plan will be made with how to move forward. But that’s only what Etienne knows. It seems there are other plans forming he isn’t privy to knowing.

Kieron Gillen continues to bring so much depth to each of the Superpower’s lives, as we get to learn more and more about them each issue. The one person I didn’t expect to see so happy was Eliza, so that was a fun surprise. Along with Eliza’s happiness, there’s also such a big change with the other characters. Learning more about the characters while their stories are progressing can only be handled expertly by Gillen. After the cliffhanger we were left on, I’m very excited to see what happens next!

The Art

Caspar Wijngaard and Clayton Cowles, yet again, bring so much quality to the artwork of The Power Fantasy, and this tenth issue is no exception. With so many changes in scenery and every place having its own look, Wijngaard made each new place have its own energy.

Final Thoughts

The Power Fantasy just keeps getting more and more entertaining with each issue. Kieron Gillen knows what he’s doing with these characters and knows how to keep us hooked into the story. Can’t wait for the next issue!
