Let’s Discuss This Issue!

Campbell is excelling in terms of storytelling in this series so far, and the messages in each issue have real-world significance at the same time. Supergirl has taken it upon herself to train Lesla-Lar. This proves to be no easy task. However, teaching in its own right is often no easy task to begin with.

The writing hits the nail on the head. we see Kara learning what it takes and begin to learn herself how she must teach and how it is different than what she went through.

It’s full of amazing life lessons, and the depth of emotions hits as Lesla is trying her best at the same time to which is something many of us can relate to.

It’s these story elements that keep me hooked on this run. We also have Howard who is a womanizing fool turned into a creature called Decay and this is another well timed beat that Sophie adds within this plot.

In terms of the artwork, I cannot lie that my weakness is Goth girls, and there is a page of Lesla, Kara, and Lena all decked out in sick Goth attire headed to the Masquerade that had my attention immediately.

On a serious note, the coloring and aesthetic of this subculture that I grew up in, which is emo and goth, was captured excellently, and the details of the attire, tattoos, and venue were drawn and colored to perfection.

The battle sequences were colored in a way that made them pop out from the panels and captured tense moments, causing the duo to think on their feet.

Final Thoughts:

Supergirl #4 is full of growing moments and eye-popping artwork as the bond between Kara and Lesla continues to grow, bringing us a fun and exciting new hero to the town of Midvale!

Overall Grade: 10/10
