The Story:
Will is having a hard time integrating back into his old life after his time in the Upside Down. Thankfully, Mr. Clarke is there with just the right advice to help get Will back on track.

The Writing:
Derek Fridolfs continues his anthology of stories set in the second season of Stranger Things. Deciding to focus on Will, a character that did not get a lot of time to be more than a plot device for the first two seasons, was brilliant. Fridolfs was able to dive deep into the sadness and fear that Will was dealing with, as well as how his mood was affecting his friends.
I really appreciated the moments between characters in this issue, with each supporting player having an important role in the story. Giving Mr. Clarke the opportunity to help guide Will out of his dark place with a quick bit of real world advice was a nice touch that made this story feel like it really belonged in the story that has already been told on the screen.
The Art:
The art team turned in a wonderful issue full of dark images and concerned friends. Each time Will slipped back into the Upside Down in his mind the artwork shined. This art helped the story feel like it belonged in the same universe and time as the Netflix series. The cover, as well, was a fantastic treat showing Will in both of his realities. The final pages showcasing Will hiding in the Upside Down were, at the same time, frightening and uplifting. This was a wonderful outing for the entire team!
Overall Grade: 9.5/10
With two issues down, Stranger Things: Tales From Hawkins 2 is off to an incredibly strong start. This anthology series is exactly what fans need to hold them over until next season. Excellent storytelling, wonderful art, and the joy of being dropped back into Hawkins make this limited series an easy recommendation.
