Since leaving Krakoa, Laura Kinney, AKA Wolverine, has had some awesome team ups, and fought for countless mutants. Recently however, she experienced a Christmas that would and could never be. Which got her missing her sister Gabby. Who has suddenly shown up on her front door, in rather rough shape.

The Story for Laura Kinney: WOLVERINE #9
Laura’s little sister Gabby, has been fighting alongside Dracula’s son. However, a recent fight to save some tourists in Paris, left her cursed. So she goes to her big sister for help. While Wolverines always claim to be loners, they definitely thrive in a good team up. So, Laura calls for help. Said help unleashes chaos creating an even bigger mess to clean up.

The Art
As this amazing story of Laura continues, so does the amazing artwork. Every page showcases emotions and background details beautifully, all while creating some badass fight scenes. This issue in particular, however, gave us magic. Some of which was creepily displayed at times, yet oddly still beautiful. There hasn’t been a page in this run that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed taking in.
Overall Grade: 9/10
All hell seems to be breaking lose, and Laura is getting frustrated. I love the pivot from the Christmas hallucinations with her innocent little sister, to a badass fighting Gabby that needs her big sister after a vampire hunt goes wrong. Wolverines are caretakers, whether they like to admit it or not, and I’m loving the big sister role we see Laura in here. As this is Part One, I can’t wait for the next part.
Laura Kinney: WOLVERINE issue 9 did a beautiful job of weaving so many other Marvel comic stories together, while solely telling this story that is happening now. Nothing ever felt overwhelming, while at the same time the story in the moment feels that much bigger.
