The Story

Now that Kamala truly knows what it takes to be a mutant, she’s finally arrived to her biggest battle yet; Legion. After accompanying Legion to various times in the past that are important in the X-Men’s history, it’s time to put this whole ordeal to rest. But first, she take down the most unhinged and diabolical mutant she’s ever encountered.

In Giant-Size X-Men #2, Kamala finally makes it back to Jersey, with Bruno waiting right there for her. As confusing as it all may be to Bruno, Kamala fills him in on everything she’s just endured, even if it was only a few seconds of Kamala gone to Bruno.

Telling Bruno to plan an evacuation, Kamala says that this is all on her to stop Legion. However, can she really do this all alone?

The Writing

Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly have been the masterminds behind this Giant-Size run, and it’s been nothing short of an exciting roller coaster ride through the history of our favorite mutants. Seeing all of the major X-Events through a new perspective has been such a great time, and the ending was just as satisfying as the entire run. I hope to see Kamala work with the X-Men again in the future, especially after this ending!

Along with the main story of Giant-Size X-Men #2, we are treated to our first look at the highly anticipated event, X-Men: The Age of Revelation.

This mini story involves Destiny seeing into the future and seeing what harm is upon them. Mystique is still in her fragile form from her own series, Mystique(catch up here!), but Destiny says they must navigate a new way with the upcoming chaos. Destiny sees a new member joining the Alaskan X-Men, and as soon as he joins, it’s the beginning of the end. This was written by Jed MacKay, and he did di a brilliant job at pulling me into the event and making me want more. Can’t wait to check out X-Men: The Age of Revelation in October!

The Art

The artwork of Giant-Size X-Men #2 was phenomenal, thanks to Adam Kubert and Laura Martin. With excellent battles, exciting team ups, and gorgeous array of colors that make each page pop, it’s very hard not to like the artwork that was given. I think some of the best examples of the talents of Kubert and Martin have to do with Legion, and the otherworldly panels with them in it.

Kubert created looks with Legion that are just as unhinged as Legion is, in the best possible way. Alongside Kubert’s drawings, you have Laura, who elevated the art with her work on the colors, making each panel stand on its own.

Final Thoughts

I had such a great time with this run, and I think it ended on the best possible note. Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly knocked it out of the part, yet again.
