“Something is Mutating the Children”

The road to Tromaville is blocked off by citizens that don’t want the toxic waste and mutants to escape Tromaville. As the world fears what happened with the toxic waste and alien invasion, Tromaville is just trying to recover and rebuild. However, a rash of disappearances have the town talking and pointing fingers.

The main finger of acquisition is being pointed by Bonnie Burgens, the mother of Bonehead, who was killed by The Toxic Avenger as he saved Tromaville. Of course, she leaves out the fact that Bonehead was siding with the aliens and harming the town. But that doesn’t stop some in the town from siding with her. To win back some trust, Toxie helps find the missing girls. Melvin may not be the hero we need or want, but he proves to be the hero we deserve.

Toxic Sludge and Bathtubs

This first issue of the new run of The Toxic Avenger picks right up where the initial arc left up. This world that Matt Bors developed is really growing and taking shape. As the fallout and consequences of the first arc are coming too light, we get introduced to new dramas that will be the focal point going forward. There are some good starting blocks set up in this issue to pique the readers’ interest going forward.

The art in this issue is really cool and brings Tromaville to life. Fred Harper does an awesome job with the character designs and the backdrop that is Tromaville. The little details in every panel really draw the reader in. Lee Loughridge chose the right colors to make the art pop and brings the art together quite nicely.

Final Thoughts

The Toxic Avenger #1 is a great follow up to the initial arc for everyone’s favorite toxic hero. The groundwork that is laid in this first issue is a great start to this new run. This book should be on your list of things to grab at the LCS this week. After reading this issue you should then give some serious thought to adding this series to your Pull List.

Overall Grade: 8/10
