The Story and Writing
After the wild events that took place in the first issue of The Vision & The Scarlet Witch, we pick up right where we left off. In the second issue, Vision has just found out that Wanda saved his life, and he isn’t taking it rationally exactly. Actually, he is so emotional, that Wanda has to take him to another realm to safely feel everything he’s feelings.
This is unlike the Vision we’re used to, and even Vision is used to. The events of what happened between him and the Grim Reaper are slowly coming back to Vision’s memory. The Grim Reaper killed him out of vengeance for Vision’s wife, Virginia, killing him first, but she wasn’t there as she’ passed on, so he settled for Vision.

With the Death Doors showing up around the world, it can’t be a coincidence that the Grim Reaper would show up as well. Wanda is able find out what the Grim Reaper has to do with the Death Doors, and comes to the conclusion that they must find the closest door. Once they do, it becomes very obvious just how erratic Vision’s emotions are and what a problem they could be. But the mission must go on, because The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #2 is left on a flabbergasting cliffhanger.
As usual, Steve Orlando proves to know exactly what he’s doing when he writes anything to do with the Scarlet Witch. Having Vision have out of control emotions was something I didn’t see coming, but I am really enjoying that aspect as it’s new territory. I’ll be waiting anxiously for the third installment as I can’t wait to see where this cliffhanger leads to.
The Art
Lorenzo Tammetta, the artist of the comic, does a fantastic job bringing the story to life. Tammetta does a great job illustrating the emotions of the characters, giving the storyline so much more depth. Along with Tammetta, Ruth Redmond handles the colors, and completely elevates the comic with her talents. The juxtaposing colors between the stark Vision and the vibrant Scarlet Witch gives a beautiful fire and ice energy to the whole book. In addition, Travis Lanham handles the letters and brings as much power to the words as Wanda’s magic ever could.
There are some panels that are simply marvelous, and one full page of Wanda that was nothing short of astonishing. The artists easily deserve a 10 out of 10 themselves.
Final Thoughts
There is so much to like about The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #2 thanks to Steve Orlando and his creative team. This was a perfect second installment from the very strong start of the first issue.
Overall Grade – 9.5/10
