The Story and Writing

Megan – In Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #9, we finally see Marc making progress on the Glitter epidemic. With the help of Hank Pym, at last, Marc has a cure for the Glitter addiction. The biggest problem with the Glitter is that the team can’t just take away the highly addictive drug because users will die once their supply is taken away. Thanks to the hard work of Hank Pym and his Pym Particles, that’s no longer an issue. Now that they have the cure, they have to come up with a plan to distribute it onto every addict in the city.

However, before they can trust the cure to work on the citizens, they have to be sure that the cure even works. After a lot of back and forth, Marc decides he will be the one who becomes addicted to Glitter to try the cure on himself. While Greer is completely against this, there’s no one better than Marc to test the cure.

Jed MacKay continues to create a hard-hitting and emotional storyline for Moon Knight that shows just how well he understands the character. With a journey into the psyche of Marc Spector’s mind, his road to sobriety was a roller coaster of emotion, to say the least.

Janelle – This issue of Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #9 is a great addition to the story being told. Jed Mackay makes an interesting story line, that makes your eyes glued the page as you are reading this interesting story. Marc Spector has always been one of my favorite characters, so seeing the cracks in between of “getting better” seems impossible for him. The cure is also an interesting concept, because Hank Pym was so diligent in making Marc Spector a new person. The Glitter addiction also was a nice touch, because so many people can relate to that type of situation.

The Art

Megan – Devmalya Pramanik and Rachelle Rosenberg somehow make each issue of Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu even more beautiful than the last issue, which is mindblowing. In the ninth issue, what stood out to me the most were the panels with Hank Pym. With a mixture of abstract details and vibrant colors from all over the spectrum, these panels were some of the most gorgeous in the run. Hats off to the artists!

Janelle – I love how each artist makes a stamp on the art. Devmalya Pramanik and Rachelle Rosenberg make an excellent team in making the art captivating. Each panel of the comic, I feel like I am inside of the story. I love also how graphic some of the scenes are, where most artists are scared of doing that.

Final Thoughts

Megan – You think that Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu can’t get any better, but Jed MacKay proves you wrong in every issue. There feels like there’s so much build up happening in the story, it makes me so excited to see what’s in next month’s issue!

Janelle – I cannot wait till the next issue. Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu is on the right direction of becoming an excellent run. There is more to this story, and I can’t wait to see what Jed Mackay has in store for the future.

Overall Score – 9.5/10

Megan – 9.4/10

Janelle – 9.5/10
