The Negan and Maggie show, AKA ‘Dead City’ just dropped episode 6 of season 2 on AMC and AMC+. Sift slowly through the herd, as there are spoilers for the last episode. However, spoilers for episode 6 are a no go.

Last seen on Dead City
The last episode was filled with some sweet karma and some weirdly feel good moments. Lucia getting attacked by walkers was a very welcomed surprise. Meanwhile Negan made his own karma happen by setting up The Croat only to have The Dama taken out instead. Leaving Negan to once again climb his way to the top. As the episode ended we see Bruegel come to the rescue of our handful of conveniently picked survivors. This leaves us wondering if they’ve truly been rescued, or simply captured.
Bridge Partners are Hard to Come by these Days
This episode kicks right off with our knight in shining armor, or captor: Bruegel. With his sweet talk and fancy clothes he takes the survivors with him. While still unclear as to their fate as prisoners or simply survivors, a sudden jump scare moment occurs. A new head honcho is in town, and it was absolutely not on any prediction or bingo card I had!
As Maggie still struggles with how to move on from Negan’s batting practice so many years ago, she’s truly at a loss on how to raise a very peculiar and troubled Hershel.I suppose hormonal teenagers and the apocalypse really don’t mix well. Or this is what the next generation needs to be in order to survive in a world their parents had only seen in TV, movies, and video games, at their age.
Overall Grade 7/10
Since that fateful night so many years ago when we said goodbye to Glenn and Abraham, Maggie has been angry. She wanted Negan dead. Last season we got glimpses of her feeling almost pity or guilt for what she was doing to Negan. However, she still seemed to see only red. As this season has progressed I’m enjoying seeing her grief shift.
There was one moment in this episode that I thought was very beautifully done, and reminded me of a moment from the comics. I’m not sure if we’re heading exactly in that direction, but I’m enjoying that road so far, wherever it may lead us. With only two episodes left, and season 3 not confirmed (yet?), I wonder how much more road there is to cover.
