The Moon is Following Us #10: The epic finale is here and it’s time for Penny and Sam to go home but, not before Penny shows she has one last trick up her sleeve.
Creative Team:
Daniel Warren Johnson (WRITER, ART, CREATOR) Riley Rossmo (CREATOR, COVER, ARTIST) Mike Spicer (COLORS) Shawn Lee (LETTERS)
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
The Art and Letters:
I wanted to start here because everyone caps this run-off in such a beautiful and artistic way. Penny revealing herself in her superhero outfit and bringing this light that only a child can bring was shown on the pages so wonderfully. It was such an epic moment and the way they drew her powers and abilities left an impression that can sometimes be hard to capture in these type of moments.
Kicking off this issue with Tash being ripped to pieces and just his eyeball in a single panel was so haunting and vicious. Then Pigface is transforming into a gigantic world-eating monster revealing his true sinister self was the perfect way to go. The amount of emotions captured on Tash’s daughter’s face and then the darkness Duncan felt. All around combining with Shawn’s perfect lettering make this so visually stunning.
The Story:
DWJ and Rossmo had me crying as I was reading this. As a parent the way Penny pulled her dad out of his darkness and then to see that in the end Duncan fell ill and passed away. They just ripped my heart out and invoked every single emotion the human body could feel with this ending. The beauty of them taking Tash’s daughter home and as their own and how powerful Penny was and she always was. I could sit and rave about this ending forever because of how well it was done.
Overall Grade: 10/10
The Moon is Following Us ends in such a beautiful and heartbreaking manner. The team brings out every emotion as we go through each panel and caps off this beautiful story. This is how you end a story and this is how you make the reader feel something. This entire run was full of amazing action sequences and written so exceptionally well. This is going to be talked about for a very long time.
