Jumpscare Has a Plan
In the finale of issue 2 it really felt like Jumpscare was in a tough spot. Her new ally Gindhouse and herself were taken by the Dismal Concordat to their prison for the “Leviathan Touched”. As issue 3 opens however, it’s clear that Jumpscare is right where she wants to be.
More horror weapons are introduced from some really great horror movies. There are some great Easter eggs here but do to copyright Bunn has to get creative with the movie names. In this issue we get a big one too!

Jumpscare Grows in Character and Power
Cullen Bunn has spent a lot of time laying the foundations for this world and now things are starting to ramp up. Jumpscare shows off an incredible amount of power, strength, and skill in this issue. She’s almost an unstoppable force. She’s also showing a softer side. She cares about saving her sister. She cares about saving the leviathan-touched creatures that were being tortured.
The Beautifully Bloody Art
The artwork doesn’t miss a beat and continues to be stellar. Danny Luckert is taking us on this wild ride of horror movie weapons tearing through the Dismal Concordat. It’s bloody and violent and it’s a work of art! It’s fantastic to see the contrasts of pinks and purples and other soft colors splashed in red blood and guts. It’s fun visually to go along with a fun story.
Overall Grade 9/10
Jumpscare has been taking small steps, but the ultimate climax is close. Allie and her sister are seeing eye to now, but it’s their parents that will end up being a problem. This issue was just a riot! It’s Jumpscare doing what she does best, fighting! The story is still intriguing and the character of Allie continues to develop. What comes next, nobody knows! Do you?
