Eddie Brock Carnage #4
With a few cases under their belts, Eddie Brock and Carnage make a pretty darn good team – if by team, you mean one sadistic killer and one former anti-hero trying his best to do good. Eddie is falling pretty short of that so far.
Now as the duo hunt a different caliber of serial killer, the heat will get turned up a notch as Muse enters the picture. Can Eddie keep Carnage in check, especially with the likes of Muse nearby or will Carnage wreak havok and get his bloody way?
Creative Team:
Writer: Charles Soule
Artist: Juanan Ramirez
Color Artist: Matt Hollingsworth
Letters: VC’s Joe Sabino
Publisher: Marvel Entertainment
The Art:
Ramirez has his work cut out for him here with Muse.
As savage as Carnage is, this issue is next level not meant for anyone under the age of 16.
The remains of Muse’s killing spree is not for the faint of heart and the art reflects that perfectly. It really tows the line between uncomfortable and thrilling.
I always judge art by the faces, they really show you what’s happening and how. Just look at the joy on Eddie’s face as his secret plan takes action here. You don’t even need dialogue to understand what’s about to go down.
ALL-NEW VENOM 1 – Who Is Venom??
The Writing:
Well, as I always say, it’s Charles Soule, what else do you need.
But let’s dive deeper shall we. The storyline here is second to none, hunting a serial killer like Muse, a possible double cross, Misty Knight on Carnage’s trail, trying to stop the destruction and chaos in their wake.
It’s a thrilling issue that feels like something out of a Disney + R-rated series rather than just a two-dimensional comic book.
Uniting Eddie and Carnage was such a brilliant idea, as this series is such a fun read. It’s all shades of grey, nothing is black and white, good and evil. Well, Carnage comes pretty close to evil, but you get the point.
Overall Grade: 9/10
I’m just a sucker for a buddy cop franchise gone wrong and Eddie Brock Carnage is that in so many ways and then some. If you have yet to check out this stellar series, do yourself a favor and start with issue 1. You will not be disappointed as each issue leaves you salivating for more.
