The Story:

Sophie brings a whole new tale of Kara into this world of DC All In. I enjoyed how Kara has been struggling to leave her cousins shadow and has been battling to create her own name for herself. It can be a story that we relate to in real life especially when it comes to Kara now up against needing to reclaim herself from an imposter.

The inner struggle she faces is a great plot point and then as someone who has moved away from their hometown, I could relate to returning to where you’re from. This story brings a lot of relatability to someone with the power of a god and is why it pulled me in right off the bat.

The Art and Letters:

Sophie is doing some overtime as she also is handling the artwork with the help of Tamra who is on colors. The costume and the changes in Kara’s looks show a variety of artwork talent. With the coloring, this issue is vibrant and shows off a lot of detail with its blues, reds, greens, and more. There is a blend of action and then when we see Kara return to her home the changes in expressions from the joy of a childhood friend to pure fear and shock. Becca is adding depth to these characters and the fear in their voices when it comes to the lettering.

Overall Grade: 9/10

Supergirl #1 is a powerful introduction to this new series making this god-like hero feel relatable in terms of returning to her hometown. This run has my interest and I am excited to see where it leads!
