“WREAKING HAVOC ON LAND AND SEA… IT’S JEFF! Follow everyone’s favorite land shark as he spreads his charming chaos across the Marvel Universe! For the first time in print, you can read issues #25-36 of Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru’s original It’s Jeff infinity comic, plus five delightful tales from Gustavo Duarte’s Jeff Week! Jeff tags along for some adventures with fan-favorites like the X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, and many more! But don’t underestimate this little shark — his adorable antics may cause more of a comm-ocean than these heroes can handle…”(Credit: Marvel)

The Story

Jeff the Land Shark is up to his usual highjinx in his life, but this time it’s involving all of our favorite characters. In It’s Jeff: Jeff Week #1, there are not one, not two, but 17 different short stories involving Jeff and various characters. You can see Jeff swinging through New York City with Spider-Man, or Jeff eating through all of the X-Men’s food in their refrigerator. Each short story is wrapped in cuteness and humor, making this comic fun for anyone to check out. At the end of the day, can you really ever have enough of Jeff? The answer is no.

The Writing

I love that Kelly Thompson is able to be so flexible with how many tones she’s able to write, and write them beautifully. It amazes me that she’s the woman behind Absolute Wonder Woman and can write something so deep with so much depth, then switch to writing something so free-spirited and humorous as It’s Jeff: Jeff Week #1. For any Jeff fan, this is the comic for you. It shows how intermingled Jeff is in the Marvel Universe, while showing that classic charm of everyone’s favorite landshark.

The Art

Gurihiru and Gustavo Duarte are the artists behind It’s Jeff: Jeff Week #1, and they matched Thompson’s tones perfectly with their art. The artists were able to capture so many different Marvel characters and illustrate them in so many different styles. My personal favorite was Jeff the Land Shark in Bits and Bites by Gustavo Duarte, which involved some of our favorite X-Men.

Final Thoughts

It’s Jeff: Jeff Week #1 was nothing but positivity and humor. It was a nice change from all the heavy stuff most comics are about. Hats off to Kelly Thompson and the writing team for making something so cute and as loveable as Jeff the Land Shark!

Overall Grade – 10/10
