Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the one shot issue of Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – The Battle of Eriadu from Dark Horse Comics!

It’s a one shot issue from Alyssa Wong this week that is a nice change of scenery in The High Republic era (kind of).

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – The Battle of Eriadu by Aylssa Wong (Writer), Elisa Romboli (Illustrator), Dan Jackson (Color Art), Comiccraft’s Tyler Smith & Jimmy Betancourt (Letters), Jake Bartok (Cover). It is a fun one shot that gives a different perspective on the ongoing battle taking place in The High Republic.

The Story

Firstly, the story is a fun little side story to what’s going on in the war on Eriadu. Secondly, while yes it’s a story we’ve seen/read before it’s still a classic one. Subsequently this is the story of two friends on opposing sides of the war who come face to face.

Conversly, you might be thinking, no it isn’t a Jedi & a Nihil fighter. Moreover, I particularly enjoyed the build up to the reunion. Seeing both sides of their story was such a unique way to do it, and the ending was just perfection.

The Artwork

I can’t remember for certain if I’ve ever read a comic that had either Elisa Romboli on the artwork or Dan Jackson on the color art. Without a doubt they’re both fantastic at their craft and that shines through in this issue. The colors are vibrant, and everything is so crisp.

FINAL POINT

If you’ve been keeping up with the High Republic Adventure series, you’re going to want to pick this issue up. Especially because of how it ends, and given that story might then spin-off into a future issue. It’s a fun read that I think is a nice little break between all the comics you’ll be reading this week.

Overall Grade: 9.0/10
