The Story:

One World Under Doom continues and Tony Stark has an announcement to make. Stark Unlimited is getting back into weapons manufacturing! Has Tony fallen off the wagon? Has he lost his mind? Or is he working behind the scenes to bring an end to Dr. Doom’s rule?

The Writing:

Spencer Ackerman continues to do a wonderful job of weaving this story into the larger One World Under Doom event. Even if you aren’t reading the main story, this is a very enjoyable read.

On top of that, this issue does a lot to get the reader interested in the crossover. Ackerman’s writing continues to grow on me as he puts Tony’s mental state and ability to make tough decisions for the greater good. It is one on this character’s more interesting flaws and this series is shining a light on them with great effect.

The Art:

Julius Ohta and Alex Sinclair put on a beautiful showing this month. The battle scenes felt epic, the crowds were diverse and interesting to look at, and the panel layout and design were excellent. The use of the Silver Centurion armor in this issue was a nice surprise as well. My favorite thing about this art team is the energetic feel of it all.

There is motion on each page, the panels flow in such a wonderful way that you never feel like you are looking at still images. Iron Man’s first suit-up moment with his massive repulsword was chef’s kiss perfection. Of course, I cannot write a review of this series without showing love to Yasmine Putri’s incredible cover work!

Overall Grade: 9/10

This is about as great as you can get when dealing with an event crossover. The team has found a way to include elements of the ongoing story to make their way organically into this event and that is no small task. I’m very curious to see where this goes next!
