The Story:
Dr. Doom is the Emperor of the World… and Tony Stark cannot sit by and do nothing. Sneaking into Russia, Iron Man is looking to make a deal with a group of Latverian Freedom Fighters. However, things turn south as a group of “Heroes” intervene.
The Writing:
I applaud Spencer Ackerman for what was done in this issue. Tie-Ins to larger events can be tricky, however, he put together an interesting and engaging story that made me want to jump into the One World Under Doom event. The intrigue and set up for this arc were expertly crafted, hooking me into the story immediately and making me excited for what is to come. The involvement of the Winter Guard made for an exciting treat as Ackerman was able to pull from Iron Man history to provide some fun and witty dialogue between Tony and an old foe.
The Art:
The art team of Julius Ohta and Alex Sinclair continue their hot streak of excellence in this issue. Each book in this series has risen above the previous as far as art is concerned. The landscapes, character designs, emotions, and action were all wonderful to look at. While I keep saying that this Iron Man armor design has not been my favorite, I am enjoying the slow build each month as it morphs into more and more powerful armor. Yasmine Putri’s cover is, once again, fantastic!
Overall Grade 9.5/10
Another issue, another nearly perfect score. I was concerned going into this issue that it would be a frustrating read as a tie-in. However, with the great work of the creative team, this was an overly enjoyable read and it left me wanting more. Let’s see where Iron Man goes in this One World Under Doom!

You are so right! Tie-ins can be tricky to pull off. But if done right, they can be a delight! Now I want to know more about the winter guard.
