From the World of Minor Threats, The Brood #4 wraps up another incredible story. Throughout this run, we’ve gotten to know the world’s worst villain, Napoleon Archimedes, and his family. Issue 4 went deeper into Archimedes’ youngest son, Simon Tyler. Also known as Spookshow. The self proclaimed, “most depraved villain the world has even seen.”

The Story for Issue 4
As we dig deeper into the life of Archimedes’ son, Simon Tyler AKA Spookshow, we see he has an interest in the dark arts, and a sidekick who isn’t all there. As he deals with his childhood trauma in a different way than his siblings, the family comes together. In more ways than one. Meanwhile, Searcher is seen in a way we’ve never seen before. As the chaos and a tsunami seem to die down, we’re left with not one, but two twists in the Archimedes family.
The Art
Each Minor Threats story has their own art style to compliment the story being told. In ‘The Brood’ issue 4 we dove a bit into the world of dark magic, and into the mind of Simon Tyler. The art for this issue was perfect as we saw a glimpse into the home and mind of the most depraved villain ever. From the fear on a young Simon’s face, to the consciousness of a grown up version. The art perfectly and beautifully helped tell the story of the youngest kid in a family raised by villains.
Overall Grade: 9/10
Just like in real life, no two siblings are exactly the same. They often respond to praise, trauma, or toxic parenting differently. The children of Napoleon Archimedes are no different. While issue 1 of ‘The Brood’ introduced us to the main villain himself, Archimedes, each issue after that dove into his children. Therefore, we got to view the story of Archimedes through very different lenses. As each of his children have chosen very different paths.
The story for issue 4 wrapped up by showing everyone deal with a new emotion. One no one is ever fully ready to deal with. However, in true Minor Threats fashion, the fun seems to only just be getting started.
