The Story:

Iron Man, Ironheart, and Melinda May must work to rescue the prisoners that have been captured by the Heat. Only one complication, the former Latverian leader, and current cyborg supervillain, Lucia Von Bardas has control of a Stark Sentinel and is hell bent on taking out her vendetta with America on Chicago!

The Writing:

Spencer Ackerman continues to impress with this story as each issue improves upon the last. The dialogue and banter between both hero and villain alike was snappy and quick. Each character had their own unique voice, right down to Tony’s bottom basement, Iron GPT AI and Ironheart’s sophisticated AI. On top of the characters, Lucia Von Bardas’ motivation was clear and I understood her anger and the path of vengeance she was on. Ackerman was able to throw in a couple of twists in this issue and capped it all off with a classic Iron Man trope of Tony Stark realizing that he still has a lot of work to do to atone for his company’s misdeeds.

The Art:

Javier Pina and Alex Sinclair are such a great pairing for this story. With each issue the colors pop, the lines are crisp, and the layouts are dynamic! While I have been very open about my dislike of the current Iron Man armor design, I would be lying if I said that it didn’t look fantastic in this issue. I’m going to need a prop replica of that Repulsword as quick as possible… Of course, I love the Stark Sentinel design and the update looked great here and the final fight was incredible.

Overall Grade 9.5/10

This was another solid outing from this creative team. While I had my doubts to begin with, each issue has put those concerns to rest. The character interactions, art, and bombastic action scenes lead to this being another nearly perfect issue.
