Fantastic Four #29 :
We are currently living in Doom’s World. Well “One World Under Doom” to be more specific. Doom has obtained the powers of the Sorcerer Supreme and created a United Latveria, taking over rule of the world under his iron thumb.
The Fantastic Four have tried to put a stop to Doom’s rule, but have yet to make any progress. Will Doom continue to rule and bring peace to his world with order and power?
Creative Team:
Writer: Ryan North
Penciler: Cory Smith
Inker: Oren Junior
Color Artist: Jesus Aburtov
Letters: VC’S Joe Caramagna
PUBLISHER: Marvel Comics
The Art:
Smith’s art is classic FF, where you can feel the power of Doom and Marvel’s first family through the panels, the details and the facial expressions that change from page to page.
Even the NYC lunch with Thing, Sue and She-Hulk is fun, inviting and relatable, the way Marvel has always been.
It’s odd to see regular folks talk to the trio about Doom taking over like it’s normal politics, but that’s the world we live in and Marvel has done its best to reflect the world we live in and what’s legal and not.
Which brings us to the writing…

The Writing:
North has crafted a really unique story that absolutely mirrors real life.
Doom convincing all the world leaders to give him control and the divide that has created in the Marvel Universe. Some see what Doom is doing as a positive, while the FF4 know better and know better than to trust one of the worst villains we’ve ever seen!
But Doom is smart and he’s using the fallout of Blood Hunt to drive people into fear and use this fear to take over.
It’s a real reflection of everyday life, where all we see in social media is doom and gloom (no pun intended) and that results in the people willing to do anything and listen to anyone to make it stop or hope for a better world.
In this world, vampires are the bad guys, they literally are considered blood-sucking leeches on the system and just tried to take over the world.
Overall Grade: 8.5/10
The books ends with chants of “Only Doom will save us,” a real images of the world we live in, where regular citizens don’t know what or who to believe in.
Much like real life, will a hero or team of heroes arise to take the call and let us all see the light? That remains to be seen.
