One of Image Comics’ best series is getting turned into a TableTop RPG.
Free League Publishing is releasing Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying. This new RPG is using Free League’s Year Zero Engine. The Year Zero Engine has been used to make other Free League games, including:
- Mutant: Year Zero
- Alien: The Roleplaying Game
- Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game
- Coriolis: The Third Horizon
- Vaesen: Nordic Horror Roleplaying
- Forbidden Lands
- Paleomythic
- Twilight 2000
This game is being designed by an all-star team, including:
- Adam Bradford (D&D Beyond Founder/Producer On Dungeons & Dragons, Cortex Prime, and Marvel Titles)
- Tomas Härenstam (Free League Co-Founder/Lead Designer On Alien RPG, Blade Runner RPG, Mutant: Year Zero, And Dragonbane)
Bradford did have this to say about the RPG:
Invincible is my favorite comic series, and I’ve wanted to play in this universe for many years. The way the story unfolds in a sprawling saga over the course of 144 issues – without endless retconning – lends itself particularly well to tabletop roleplaying, and I can’t wait for fans to experience their own superhero stories with the game
The game will launch on Kickstarter later this year, with the campaign offering both the Core Rulebook and the Starter Set. The Book will have Illustrations from Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, while Johan Nohr will be handling the Graphic Design.
Härenstam also mentioned this about the game:
One of my very first tabletop roleplaying games was the old Marvel Superheroes by TSR, and making a superhero RPG has been a lifelong dream. I think the genre, and Invincible’s more grounded and visceral take on it, is a great fit for the Year Zero Engine game mechanics
More info for the game will be released in the coming months, leading up to the Kickstarter Launch.
