Love is in the air in Townsville. Writer/Colorist Paulina Ganucheau and Artist/Letterer Savanna Ganucheau have made a beautiful issue.
Read The Powerpuff Girls #7 Review Here
We start off the issue with everyone around Townsville in love. The city is preparing for Valentine’s Day, and even the girls are getting in on the fun. We see Blossom in class reading a romance novel, and gets interrupted by Buttercup scaring her. Blossom at first says that she’s just catching up on her reading list. But she then admits to loving gushy romance stories, in a epic monologue.
Following this, a new student by the name of Mitch shows up to class. Blossom has what is described as a full-on Anime Hot Boy moment looking at Mitch. Then we see the daydream Blossom has of her and Mitch, and it’s a full-on moment. Meanwhile, Bubbles and Buttercup are looking on, and realize that Blossom is lost in her daydream.
The scene shifts to Professor Plutonium and the girls having pizza. This is where we see Blossom continue to have her daydream. She is having pizza with her mystery lover in Italy on top of The Leaning Tower Of Pizza. This gets interrupted by the mayor calling with an emergency. A dragon attacks the city, but before the girls can attack it, Blossom has another vision.
She is slaying a dragon, and this gets interrupted by the badest of all monkeys, Mojo Jojo, showing up as well. He has built an organ, and blasts the girls right into the window of the flower shop. Bubbles and Buttercup grab Blossom, and make an escape. While they are getting away, Blossom is having another vision. This vision is her having a dance with her lover.
Since Blossom is out, Bubbles and Buttercup are left to try and stop Mojo Jojo, and it’s not going well at all. Buttercup comes up with the idea to go into Blossom’s daydream to help her. We then see not Buttercup, but Bubbles go into Blossom’s daydream and save her. We then see the girls take on and beat Mojo Jojo. The final 2 pages show the girls back at school celebrating Valentine’s Day. The final page shows Blossom and Mitch, and that didn’t work out for Blossom at all.
Final Grade: 10/10
I love it when a comic has just 2 creatives on it, because you then get to see a really fun story. This comic is no exception. It has everything you love about The Powerpuff Girls, but with the spirit of Valentine’s Day involved as well.
