The Missing
Panthero ponders the Cats’ new home of Third Earth and their place in it. He then goes out to find Thundrainium with the cubs. Upon their return, Tygra formally presents his recent findings regarding their new home and discusses the potential benefits for their future endeavors.
Meanwhile, Slithe has been led to where his people call home by his son. Upon arrival at their sanctuary, he receives a hero’s welcome. The joy of his return is short-lived though, as he discovers that his beloved wife passed away three months ago. However, even that news has little time to set in as he is interrupted by someone who appears to be an ally.
Finally, while all of this is going on Calica is running from her past so to speak. She has given up on rejoining the ThunderCats due to her failures. Her run is interrupted by an apparition of Jaga, who tells her that she is important and needed. She is also told that she needs to protect the Eye of Thundera which she has in her possession. Back at the ThunderCats makeshift base, they have finally realized Lion-O is missing.
A Friend Emerges
ThunderCats #12 sets the pace for where the story is headed in 2025. Declan Shalvey establishes the tone and upcoming challenges for future issues. The way he weaves in four different threads seamlessly to form this issue is very impressive. Story building issues can be hard on arcs as they are usually filler. However, this issue excels in story building while maintaining sufficient intrigue to keep the reader engaged.
The art in this issue is beautiful and really brings the world to life. The art in this series is consistently strong, and this issue continues that trend. From the background to the character design and the world design in general, everything clicks. The artistic creativity that Drew Moss shows off in this series is second to none. The complementary color pallet that Martina Pignedoli uses brings the art to the next level.
