Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I’m reviewing the latest issue of the Dispatches From The Occlusion Zone story from Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures from Cavan Scott & Dark Horse Comics!

Despite the impenetrable stormwall the Nihil have set up, the Jedi are still getting some valuable intel. This comes from the Ex droids that have made their way through the stormwall.

However, not every EX droid has been returned to the Republic. And as such, Ty Yorrick & Drewen Qweebjilan have volunteered to retrieve the missing droids. But will they be successful? Let’s jump into it!

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches From The Occlusion Zone #4 by Cavan Scott (Writer), Vincenzo Riccardi (Artwork), Comicraft’s Tyler Smith & Jimmy Betancourt (Lettering) & Jake Bartok (Cover Art) is one of the more unique issues I’ve read recently in Star Wars and that isn’t a bad thing!

The first thing that stands out is the artwork by Vincenzo Riccardi. I can’t recall seeing his work prior to this issue, but it’s really awesome and it really jumps off the page. It’s easily the most unique artwork you’ll see this week.

The issue is action packed with a bunch of familiar faces. It will make for a fun reading experience for fans. Fans who’ve been keeping up with the various stories in The High Republic will be pleased. It’s also a heartfelt one with a touching story. It’s a reminder just what exactly one of the Jedi missions is, and it’s not to win the war.

FINAL POINT: Cavan Scott along with Vincenzo Riccardi come together to create a memorable story in both text and artwork. It’s a fantastic combination that I would love to see continue together going forward. This is an issue you should definitely pick up this week cause the artwork alone is going to blow you away.

Overall Grade: 9/10
