Time to Rock the Place
Riley is having problems getting ready in the morning, so he enlists the help of his sister Lil. His mom rushes him out, so they won’t be late. Riley is getting dropped off to meet the rest of the band, so they can try to impress their way on to Heavyfest. Of course, they slay it and get their invite to the big fest.
Meanwhile, Patty gets booked on True Crime Palooza by Amy for their true crime graphic novel. But the real reason to be on the show is to find out about Kat’s case. Patty loses it when she hears the name Paul Holes, which leads to a meeting with the sisterhood. What happens next is surprising to say the least.
Rock n Roll and Sacrifice
This issue continues to weave the dual story that has been going strong since issue one. On one side you have Riley and his friends, who are in a band and going through normal teenage angst. Of course there is the whole Riley has become a monster. Then you have the other story, featuring Riley’s mom Patty and her sisterhood. They are looking for their friend Kat and all the weird occult things they are into. It is seamless and a pure accomplishment.
The art is modern and very punk rock. The colors are crazy and all over the place, which makes every panel stand out. The lettering is also unconventional and stands out. Everything about the design is different and that is a breath of fresh air.

Final Thoughts
FML #3 is a fun issue with some twist and turns. This coming-of-age story that mixes in some occult and a mystery to boot, is original and a real page turner. This needs to be a series that you are picking up at the LCS.
Overall Grade: 8.5/10
