Sex, Drugs, and Rock n’ Roll

The tour continues, and this time we pick up with Gaia’s view. Gaia is in a three-way love trio with Morgaine and Dorian. From the time they wake up on this day they start to trip on acid. As they wander around a nature area Gaia starts to see things both beautiful and disturbing.

Shortley after this trip, the group picks up a hitchhiker named Daisy. Daisy works her way into the group and on tour. She also shares some psychedelic drugs with the group as well. As this trip takes Gaia over, she notices that this is a way darker trip. At the end of it all she doesn’t know what was real or just in her head.

What a Nightmare

Groupies #3 is a trippy ride into an uncertain world. Helen Mullane has built a world that makes you uneasy, but eager to search for more. The slow burn setup, with the even slower paced reveals, lead to some great suspense. This issue and story have the reader waiting for the other shoe to drop. When it finally does, the payoff should be glorious.

The psychedelic and trippy art in this book is amazing. Tula Lotay and the rest of the art team are just crushing it in this book. The watercolor painting style, along with the colors give this trippy story a trippy look as well. The letters are different and are unique to the story. The way they break through the barriers of the panels gives the story a free roam feel.

Final Thoughts

Groupies #3 continues to up the story and arc. This issue really continues the slow burn philosophy that has been a staple thus far in the run. This is a book that readers need to hope onto now, so they can truly enjoy where this story will go as we head towards the payoff.

Final Grade: 9/10
