Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week, I’m going to be reviewing the 3rd issue in the Battle of Jakku – Republic Under Siege series from Alex Segura & Marvel!

The tension continues to build as they build towards the inevitable battle of Jakku. It is the battle that will finally (and definitively) end the war between the Empire & the Rebellion. So just where do things stand? Let’s jump into it!

Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku – Republic Under Siege #3 by Alex Segura (writer), Alex Sinclar (color artist), Stefano Raffaele (artist), VC’s Joe Caramagna (letterer) & Taurin Clarke (cover artist) is another issue that doesn’t seem to really go anywhere. It just further muddies the water with new characters added into the story with an already overloaded cast.

This is the 7th issue of 12, and you would think that things will start to pick up the pace a little bit. To a certain degree they do. There are some great action sequences that put the fledgling New Republic on their heels a little bit. It still feels like a bit of a slow burn is still taking place. At this point it feels like it’s dragging on for far too long.

READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!

The story is intriguing enough with the continued build up towards the inevitable battle. I can’t help but wonder in said battle is going to be the only thing memorable in this series. I’m not expecting major cameos from various other characters, nor am I demanding a huge plot twist that adds to the overall mystery of what happens in between the 6th & 7th films.

You would think that after 6 previous issues out of 12 overall that things would really be picking up. But that isn’t the case here. I really wonder when things are going to pick up. I had a lot of expectations for this series at the start and so far, it is not living up to those expectations.

FINAL POINT: This issue continues the run the series has been having of not feeling overly important, and just another slow burn build to a conclusion we’re already aware of. If you’ve kept up with the series, you’ll want to read it. But if you’re thinking about jumping in, than I would suggest waiting because this series thus far has not fell very high on the MUST READ list. But it’s still an enjoyable read.

SCORE: 6.0 out of 10
