There Will Be No Second Coming of Ares

As Avery continues to win the S.I.R competitions as Sir Athene, the other Knights plot on her downfall. They decide to use the playbook they used against Nico when Sir Ares dominated the group. We then go back a couple of years and relive what Nico went through.

VOTE IN THIS YEARS’ CHEERSIES!

Oscar and the other Knights made Nico’s life a living hell. Accusing her of cheating and trumping up charges to eventually suspend her, effectively sabotaging her riding career. Nico gets depressed and thinks about throwing in the towel, until she snaps out of it. She puts together incriminating evidence against Oscar, forcing him to let her back in. We fast forward to the present day and Avery has come up with her own way to stick it to the Knights.

Honor Amongst…

S.I.R #4 turns up the heat on the story front. Taking a detour to tell how Nico was suspended and ultimately forced her way back in. To then show us the same struggle with Avery, and the different route she took, shows us the similarities and differences between our main heroines. As this arc goes on, these moments full of heart are what makes this story amazing.

The Manga/Anime art style makes this story feel more epic. The use of colors to depict moods and emotions helps the reader know exactly what the feeling should be. Add in the different lettering techniques and this story becomes a tour de force.

Final Thoughts

For readers looking for something different in the comic book realm, you should give this book a shot. BOOM! Box is putting out some fun and innovative stuff and S.I.R is one of the flagships of that movement. Come for the manga feel and motorcycle jousting but stay for the story that’s full of heart.

Final Grade: 8.5/10
