Blessed Life, Cursed Living
Jerome is at his bartending job explaining that he is so much more but can’t show it. He even teases that he has powers of some sort but can’t use them because of the Shepherds. When he’s at home though with his daughter Jo and wife Sita he is the happiest. Even though his wife is jealous of his relationship with his daughter and believes in conspiracy theories.
We then meet Uncle Felix, and the picture starts to become clear. Felix and Jerome are mythical characters who have become demons on earth after escaping hell. Felix is known as Beelzebub and has become an epic drunk. We will find out shortly that Jerome is the god Set and unfortunately for him he’s crossed paths with the Shepard Manannan. This encounter will change Jerome’s life forever.
Damned to be on the Run
This story is an awesome take on characters that we know from mythology. Caitlin Yarsky does an amazing job of world building and character development. This issue built up to a couple of cool reveals but then hits you with an awesome twist ending that will set the tone for the series moving forward.
The art is very appeasing and contemporary. It gives the story a grounded feel, well also making the characters feel relatable to their roles. The earthy colors set the vibe and feel of the story. The Shepherds design and reveal is awe inspiring.
