The Powerpuff Girls are so back, and this issue they are dealing with a baking competition. Oh, and Princess Morbucks. Writer Paulina Panucheau, Artists Silvia De Ventura & Carlo Lauro, Colorist Guilia Lafranceschina, and Letterer Jeff Eckleberry have put together another fantastic issue.
Now this issue is so fun. Between seeing the girls having fun to then seeing them take on Princess Morbucks, it’s so interesting to see and read. But first getting to see them enjoy themselves at the city-wide Cake Bake is super interesting. And also getting to see Bubbles be excited over cakes that look like animals is also very exciting.
Then including what Buttercup and Blossom’s cakes would look and taste like is the perfect added touch. But having both Blossom and Buttercup competing is super fun to see. But the star really is seeing Princess Morbucks interrupting the competition, and having her personal chefs compete for her.
Following that, Morbucks finds out she needs to cook her cake by herself with no help, and her reaction to that news is exactly how you would imagine it would be if this was the animated series.
The baking montage is so good to look at mostly because seeing how good Blossom and Buttercup are at baking and facing that with Princess Morbucks, who can’t bake, is so good to look at.
But it does lead to Morbucks revealing that the initial cake was a Cake Tank. And the fight montage mixed with Bubbles cooking her bunny cake was so cute. But the bunny cake was going to end up blowing up, and Buttercup throwing it at Morbucks was the perfect way for her to get defeated.
But the most not surprising part was seeing that Mojo Jojo won the Cake Bake with his Banana Split cake. Also seeing how different all 3 of the girl’s reactions are is priceless.
Final Score: 10
Dynamite has put together a team that knows how to make a really good Powerpuff Girls comic book. And they also understand the characters and world of the show so well.
