Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the third isse in the Ahsoka series from Rodney Barnes & Marvel!

This issue is the comicbook adaptation of the Ahsoka tv series that aired on Disney+ last summer, and so far has been an excellent adaptation of the source material. Ahsoka, Sabine and Huyang are hot on the trail of Morgan Elsbeth, while General Hera Syndulla is trying to convince the New Republic to spare some resources for the hunt. And of course, lurking in the background in wait is Grand Admiral Thrawn. So without further ado, let’s jump into it!

Star Wars: Ahsoka #3 by Rodney Barnes (writer), Steven Cummings (penciler), Wayne Faucher (inker), Racheele Rosenberg (color artist) & Phil Noto (cover) is another great adaptation of the great tv series. I haven’t seen the episodes since they aired, but the issue brings back all the memories and makes me feel like it just aired yesterday when I read it.

The issue picks up where the previous one left off with Ahsoka, Sabine & Huyang in hyperspace pursuing Morgan Elsbeth. Huyang is exloring just where Sabine’s Force abilities are in preparation for their inevitable battle with the enemy. Ahsoka previously tried to train Sabine, and as has been alluded to (but not shown) it didn’t go well. She’s rough around the edges, but perhaps there’s still some promise there.

The other main focus of the issue is a brief interaction Hera has with The Senate Committee (including Chancellor Mon Mothma), regarding the situation with Ahsoka, Sabine & Grand Admiral Thrawn. Hera sees the danger having seen it first hand during the events of the Rebels tv series, but also sees the potential war coming after seeing what took place on the shipyards on Corellia in the previous issue. There are still Imperial loyalists working for the New Republic, and some in higher positions of power than working in a factory. And unsurprisingly the committee does not believe her.

FINAL POINT: The issue plays out overall like the episode does, and that is a great thing. You know the story, or are at least familiar with it, and it serves as a great companion to the tv series. Rodney Barnes does a phenomenal job adapting one of the better Star Wars television shows onto the page, and the entire creative team does a brilliant job of bringing the story to life in a different medium. If you haven’t seen the show for whatever reason, this series is the BEST way to experience it. And if you have seen it then it’s a great way to experience it in a brand new way.

Score: 8.0 out of 10
