Catch up with Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #2!
Starting our third installment of Daredevil: Woman Without Fear, we’re still in Madripoor with Elektra doing everything she can to find out information about where Alice is. In Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #2, the Punisher killed Nicky Scarpe in his attempt to kill Elektra, and left Elektra with the body. Elektra, with her heart changed as an assassin, takes Nicky’s body to Silvermane and Luchino Nefaria, who claims that he was family to them.
Of course they assume Elektra, the trained assassin did it, which is fair. Elektra tells them it wasn’t her, but the Punisher. With Frank Castle being dead, of course this was hard to believe. With Elektra still needing information about Alice’s whereabouts, she makes a deal with Silvermane and Nefaria. She has to bring the fake Punisher to them.
Meanwhile, Alice just got an opportunity to steal her Aunt Carol’s cell phone, so she’s in the bathroom trying to make a call to elektra. Successfully, she makes contact and Elektra finds out she was in Hell’s Kitchen the whole time. So Elektra has gone to the ends of the earth looking for Alice while she was right under her nose.
The Art
The artwork is breathtaking and becomes more captivating with every page. Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3 is a lively and energetic issue, with vibrant motion that almost jumps off the page. Something I really enjoy is how the artists of the comic do a great job in showing Elektra’s skilled fighting skills, making each fighting sequence a joy to see.
The foreground is beautifully colored, but it’s the sky that I really appreciate. At dusk or dawn, the skies blend shades of blue, purple, and pinks in a stunningly beautiful way, enhanced by the cityscape of Madripoor, which adds even more allure to each panel.
The Writing
Another exciting issue of Daredevil: Woman Without Fear! Another issue with Elektra in Madripoor, which signifies that she’s doing this on her own and not to expect Matt Murdock to join her. Erica Schultz writes Elektra really well, and shows her conflicted feelings via her inner dialogue in a way that makes you feel connected with her. I really enjoyed seeing the side characters in Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3 like Silvermane, Count Nefaria, and another character Elektra seeks assistance from. I’m excited to see where this goes with Elektra having to deal with the Punisher while having to hightail it back to Hell’s Kitchen.
