The Journey Continues Into the Unbeing
The reader continues to travel through the anatomy a giant force of nature with the three remaining members of the original scientific research team. In the previous issue, Selva had panicked and fell into what appeared to be a stomach. That fear was confirmed in this issue as stomach acid moved dangerously close to her feet.
Meanwhile, Abby and Zera attempt to rescue her and end up putting them all in great danger. When the logistic of continuing in get complicated, the deepest, darkest parts of themselves will rise to the surface.
Character Exploration Goes Into the Unbeing
If you’ve been following along since the beginning, you know that each issue has focused on one the members of the expedition team and their past. This issue focuses on Abby, the surveyor and oldest member of the team.

Abby is a character that’s been portrayed as weak, sensitive, and over protective. She acts almost motherly to the other members of the team. As her background is revealed, it becomes clear that Abby is tougher than we know. Zac Thompson has been stellar in building these character, issue by issue. In the case of Abby, he’s built something phenomenal. With Abby comes a more global past experience and the earliest days of S.I.N.E.W. This experience is her crucible and the endgame she’s been waiting on for so long.
Images and Art in Into the Unbeing
Hayden Sherman’s art serves this story so well. It’s been an absolute pleasure watching him create this new alien world that merges with the human anatomy. Each issue has seen huge, sprawling ecosystems based on human bodily systems in which strange organic beings thrive. This issue focuses in the digestive system and it obviously gets a little gross. There’s a huge spread of the team being forced through the intestines.
When new interesting themes get introduced, such as Christianity, related imagery begins to be incorporated. The layout of panels begin to resemble stain glass windows and the environment becomes very cathedral in appearance. Also, characters give off demonic appearances when their darkest and most primal instincts are displayed.
Everything Points to 9/10
Between the writing and the artwork, this book has been consistently good. This may have been my favorite issue so far in terms of characters. Each of them are fascinating and deep, but Abby brings a new dimension. She is the first one who has seemed intentionally deceptive and whatever happens next will be big. As the stage gets bigger and stakes continue to grow, it will only prove to be gripping climax!
